Tea Bag's material - Plastic or Paper?

Left-Indian Tea Bag
Right-Tea bag from Osulloc Tea Garden, S. Korea

Above is a picture of two tea bags. On the left is the bag that we generally use in India. It looks like the bag is made of some type of paper. But even when dipped in hot water to make tea, it does not get mushy, and the tea leaves remain inside it. It suggests that the bag is not made of 100% paper. Maybe some percentage of food-grade synthetic fiber has been added to it. But at a glance, it seems safe. On the right in the picture is a premium tea bag purchased at Osulloc Tea Garden in JeJu Island, South Korea. The tea bag is not made of paper but of a shiny mesh resembling a synthetic material. It is in a tetra shape. Maybe it is made of a food-grade material. But we are now more aware of plastic pollution and avoid it in water bottles, tea cups, and food packaging. We even avoid synthetic clothes. So looking at these Korean tea bags gives me a feeling that I am going to dip plastic in hot water that I will sip. Therefore, when I make tea with it, I cut open the bag and place the inside material on the tea strainer, place the strainer over the cup, and pour hot water over it till the water fills the strainer. Cover the strainer with a small plate for two to three minutes. So I have my tea without dipping the tea bag in hot water.

Packet of Green Tea Bag from Osulloc Tea Garden
JeJu Island, South Korea

This Korean tea is Green tea that people say is good for health. The color of residual tea leaves after making tea is also green. Written over the packet is "Green tea made from the first sprouts of spring crafted with the scent of JeJu". But taste-wise, I do not like it. So what I do is I take half the amount of this tea bag material and a pinch of tea leaves purchased at a tea garden in Nainital. Though the Nainital tea leaves are black in color, their aroma is superb, like the Darjeeling tea leaves. In fact, I like Nainital tea more without adding anything else.

Pumpkin

Bottle Gourd

Hotel Wooden Paradise,Nainital - Review

When planning to visit Nainital for religious and sightseeing purposes, we decided to stay near the lake on Mall Road. As usual, we searched for hotel locations on Google Maps. We found that a hotel named  Wooden Paradise met our needs, and it was affordable too. So we booked it online. Two rooms for two nights.

As you can see, Hotel Wooden Paradise
is shown on the Mall Road near the lake, but…

But it came out that it was one of the most deceptive hotel bookings we ever made. When we reached Nainital and contacted the hotel person for the hotel location, he asked us to come near the Nainital Post Office. We took our cab there to find out that it was not on the Mall Road but on a higher road, not near the lake.

But it was the Harsh Guest House, renamed as Wooden
Paradise, and it was nowhere near the lake

The cab was turned back and brought near the entrance gully to quickly unload the luggage because the steeply sloped road was not too wide and was prone to traffic jams. The entrance was congested, and the hotel looked more like a private home than a professional one. The walls of the rooms were wooden-clad, but there was no ventilation. A mirror had a crack that was covered with paper when my wife insisted. The bed sheets were like those in a cheap hotel. In fact, it appeared that earlier this hotel was named "Harsh Guest House" and they changed its name to Wooden Paradise and showed it on the Mall Road on Google Maps to deceive the customers.

Rooms were like this, no ventilation and no mobile signal

Another problem was that mobile signals were not available in the rooms. When we complained, they provided us with the hotel's Wi-Fi, but that was also sometimes off. Walking from the Mall Road to the hotel rooms was very tedious for us, as it was about a 300 m walk up the sloping road, and it was even steeper for the last 50 m from the road to the hotel entrance. Every time you need to go shopping, to a restaurant, sightseeing, or just for a walk, you will have to go uphill this distance. They serve food in the room if ordered, but that is not up to the mark. The hotel entrance was congested with bike parking, and there were many times dog shits before the entrance on the road. So the final decision is never to book this hotel - it is a big NO.
